A Plan for a Murder

It was one monsoon night, as usual it was pouring down heavily outside. Perhaps the rain and the power cuts had to do something to do with each other, I suppose. Cause, whenever the former strikes the later has to go, like in most of our movies. So, it happened here too.

It was in an isolated farm house, far away from the city. Since, the sky was cloudy and the moon was hidden somewhere beneath those very dark clouds. It was the darkest night, with not even a single star in the sky to twinkle. There was some faint light coming from the window panes of this very farm house.

Tonight something is going to happen and it’s going to change a few things, if not many a things, at least. How the lovers, Richard and Susie wanted to embrace in their love and to get married. But, they had a problem and the problem was Richard’s wife, Anna. It was an arranged marriage, much against the will and wish of Richard. But, he had to listen to his elders to get the ancestral property, which many envied. But, now things were different, having accrued what was rightly due to him.

The only obstacle between Susie and Richard was Anna. He only had to get rid of her some how and he had decided that how. Richard had pre-planned that he would remove the electric fuse and everything would happen in the dark and then his lover, who shall be hiding in the farm house shall help him to dispose her body later. But, the power went off by itself making things easier for him.

Now, all he had to do was, to go and inform Susie to stay away for sometime. Until, he accomplished his job. He went looking for Susie and found her, held her hand and dragged her, opened the bed room door, they both enetered, he opened the closet door, then :- “Stay over here and don’t come out until I tell you to…” He told her and for which, she only noded her head in agreement and he closed the door of the closet.

“Ok, fine, now let me end the game.” He said, to himself, going to the hall, looking for Anna and finally, he found her in the kitchen.

He held her hand, from behind and picked her up and carried her back to the bed room and dropped her on the bed and leaped besides her. He ran his fingers over every line and curve of her perfect figure and she held his hand. Eagerly, he clasped hers, covered her up turned face with kisses, until he found her hungry lips, In that darkness and she returned back his passion in one soul-searching embrace.

He felt her head and then his fingers came down her soft and silky neck. Suddenly, he tightened his hold on her neck, she tried to free herself from his strangle hold. But, he was too strong for her. As he squeezed with all his strength, which perhaps he didn’t knew that he possessed. As he left the body go limp, as she gave up the struggle, slowly, he loosened his strangle hold.

He wanted to see her face for one last time. Suddenly, the closet door opened with a cracking sound and she stepped outside. Meantime, a powerful lightening struck somewhere nearby and in that illuminated brightness, he could see her face very clearly. But, he saw the crumpled lifeless body of Susie and not of Anna.

Since, she was standing, leaning against the closet door, with the electric fuse in her hand.

“Endgame, isn’t it ?” She asked.

“Anna, trust me, I only wanted to get rid of her. So that we both could live happily. Now, give me a hand, so that we could dispose her body and we both can…” He said, forcing a smile on his, sweating face.

“You Lair !” She cried, interrupting him, “I don’t trust you anymore ! You thought it was me and strangled her to death. Anyway, now, honey, enjoy your stay in the prison !” She added. Just then, there was a knock on the main door.
