Sethupathi

Sethupathi (Tamil): Vijay Sethupathi plays a cop for the first time and we get to see the glimpse of a star from a wonderful actor, who could just blend into any role given to him. He is so versatile and even perhaps lucky to get such variety of roles. The movie is well written and executed. Usually, first half of most movies are good and the second half wouldn't be so good. Here second half is superior than the first and the climax is terrific. However, it doesn't mean it is a perfect movie as it has some scenes that drags the movie a bit, like the interrogation sequence that has an enquiry committee questioning Sethupathi seems out of place. It could have been avoided or kept brief to make this thriller more effective. Even the bad guy didn't seem so menacing as he should have been, maybe a better selection could have worked. But everything is forgotten seeing Vijay Sethupathi in this role.Remya Nambeesan was too good as his wife, mother of two kids. The way the story moves forward when the Sethupathi's family is under attack without him is too good. That is something new. I have seen two good movies of Vijay Sethipathi back to back, this one and Dharma Durai. So far I have liked him as a versatile actor and after watching these two movies I have become his fan . My rating is 3.5/5
