Live Life Completely!
Random Thoughts
I feel sad whenever I come across the news that someone has ended their life for some reason or the other. I think no reason whatsoever is worth enough to end one’s life. There are always two sides to it like a coin; people who end their precious lives when they are given a chance to lead it completely and people who want to live their lives with passion, but life isn’t kind enough to such people. I have wished many times and still do that I could stop such people from giving up on their lives. It was this thought which made me to write a story named ‘Live till you die!’ many years back.
I had read the life story of one of my favorite writers Mr.Sidney Sheldon ‘The Other Side of Me’. I felt that this book had a wonderful message for each one of us. The writer when he was still in his teenage had given a serious thought to end his life. He started buying sleeping pills from various medical stores every day, as he thought he might need some 16 or 17 pills to end his life. The day when he had enough pills and when he was about to put them into his throat, his father entered the room and caught him in the act. His father asked him to go for a walk with him and if he still felt like ending his life then he could do it after coming back from that walk.
Sidney agreed and went for a walk along with his father. During this walk, his father told him that life is like a book and we need to keep turning the pages as we never know what could happen in the next page. This made Sidney to change his mind and he gave up the thought of ending his life that night. If he had ended his life that night, surely we wouldn’t have had one of the best writers of our time today! Sidney Sheldon went on to write many best sellers one after the other. I remember those days of my life then I stayed awake in the nights to complete reading his books. I have read almost all his books and had become his fan. Well, Sidney Sheldon’s father saved us one of the best writers of our times! I remember a beautiful thought “Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness, yet become something beautiful!”
After reading his life story, I felt this can happen to anyone of us. May be, we might not end up becoming world famous like him, but we will surely live our mark if we live through our individual lives and go after our dreams. Nothing in this world lasts forever! Not even our depression and low. We need the courage and will power to go through our testing times. If ending one’s life was the only solution to our problems then human race would have been extinct by now for sure!
I went on to write some more stories namely ‘The Last Drop of Tear’ which was about a young educated man from a village who comes to the city in search of a job. But he ends up as a daily laborer after he fails to find a suitable job. Finally, one night he decides to end his life and in his final moments he finds an envelope at his door step which happens to be his appointment letter. He wants to live but it is too late by then…
I had written another story named ‘Left with Nothing’. The story is set in a drought stricken village. The family of a farmer decides to end their lives. The following day it starts raining for the first time after many years. But the family has left for the other world by then. Both these stories convey a message at the end…if they had waited and turned the pages of their lives then they would have realized that they had done a foolish thing by ending their precious lives! Both these stories were widely read and appreciated by the readers.
However, what really moved me was the wonderful comment I had received from a physically handicapped girl for my story ‘Another Dream’ which is about a cricketer who loses one of his legs in an accident. This forces him to give up his dream of playing cricket. He then decides to end his life...when this thought crosses his mind; he finds some of his writings from his childhood days. He decides to write again and after initial failure, he goes on to become a famous writer. This story made this girl to live her life with passion once again! I never expected that my writings could have that much affect on someone.
It was then I realized that I have responsibility upon my shoulders to inspire my readers with my writings to better in their individual lives.
Also I feel nice whenever someone looks up to me for inspiration. People have come back and told me that I have inspired many lives. Yes, I love doing that! I like to give them dreams through my writings. Also I inspire myself by writing as well. Let me conclude this write up with the following quote I had written a few days back….
"Life is a gift which not everyone would get it. Even if they do get it then not everyone is lucky to live it completely. So if you are lucky then try to live it as if your every day is your last day till your expiry date comes!"
