A Short Story By G.S.Vasukumar
Story Idea By Ankur Kapoor
One Sunday morning, Ajay and Suraj went to the Sunday Bazaar, where old books were sold cheaply. Suraj took a story book. While one very old book with it's cover page torn attracted Ajay’s attention. He picked it up and dusted it.It's title attracted him, the book of lost. Ajay bought it and they both went to a play ground.
“The book of lost! Is it some story book?” Suraj asked him.
“Don’t know?” Ajay said, turning the pages.
Suddenly the images of lost things from many places around the world came in front of them.
“Wow! It should be some magic book to find lost things!” Suraj cried overjoyed “Let’s see where my tracy has gone?”
Immediately, the images of Tracy, Suraj’s missing pet dog…from the time of missing to its present place came in front of them. They found Tracy under a bench in a park. They sat on that bench and images of a pretty young girl came in front of them.
“Hey! Who is this gal?” Suraj asked.
“Well, I had seen her in a local bus a few days back..” Ajay replied. “Just a stranger..but I was not able to forget her” He added noting down her address in a piece of paper.
“Love at first sight, huh?” Suraj said. “Can I borrow this book for a day? I will return it back safely to you.”
“Ok.” Ajay said giving to him.
Next morning, Ajay saw Suraj in depressed mood.
“What happened?” Ajay asked.
“My mother had given away that book along with old books and magazines to the old newspaper guy by mistake.” Suraj said “I’m really very sorry. I tried my best to trace him…but couldn’t.”
“Oh, no.” Ajay cried, keeping his right hand on his head.
“Let’s at least go and find that girl.” Suraj said.
“No, I had kept that piece of paper in my trouser pocket and my mother had washed it without checking the pockets.” Ajay said.
“What?” Suraj cried.
The End
